What are the scan ratings of cable interconnects?

I know HDMI cable can deliver 720p or 1080i. What about the other types of interconnect?

Nope sorry there is no scan limit made by the each of these transports, merely what the manufacture will put down it. Some are a function of physical characteristics, but component being the exception, with commercial support up to 1080p 120p frames, and it seems that it can handle more. Only reason it is limited to 1080i 60i is DRM from the studios.

S-Video is generally limited to 540i or 480i depending on where you are in the world.

Scart can handle both a S-video type and component with similar resolution but is limited up to 540i it will depend greatly on the manufacture and cable you use.

Composite is not supported above 480i, but again it seems to be able to handle just a few lines more, but no video standard exists to use this.

The “best ” hook up is going to vary greatly on what equipment you have and the application you intend to use it for. Provide model numbers and you will get a more targeted answer.
